CAT FOOD

ARE YOU FEEDING YOUR KITTEN/CAT FITLY?

Buying food for your cat is difficult considering the fact that just like humans, every cat is unique and has individual needs. Reading the list of ingredients given on cat food products is extremely essential to ensure your feline receives sufficient nutrition. The factors to be considered while determining the right kind of food for your kitty are as follows:

Age of the Cat

  • Kittens

Food that is high in proteins and fats is vital to support the growth of kittens. The food “formulated for kittens” contains folic acid and Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) for their healthy development and is a suitable solution to fulfill the dietary requirements of your kitten.

  • Adult Cat

Adult cats are prone to become overweight, especially if they have a lazy lifestyle. Cats need food that is high in vitamin C, vitamin E, and calcium to improve their immune system. Low-calorie food is an appropriate alternative to reduce the risk of obesity for your cat. However, low-calorie food is not necessary if your cat is active and energetic.

  • Senior Cat

Diet for senior cats mostly focuses on reducing stress on kidneys, as an incidence of kidney disease is common in older cats. The diet for senior cats is also rich in vitamins, minerals, and nutrients to enhance the cat’s resilience as they are prone to health issues. Food formulated for senior cats should be chosen after consulting the veterinarian as every cat has different needs.

Type of cat food

  • Dry Food

Dry cat food is cheaper and easier to maintain than wet food. It is capable of satisfying the dietary requirements of your cat, especially if you introduce high-quality dry cat food in the early developmental phase of their life.

  • Wet Food

Wet cat food is an appropriate precautionary measure for cats that tend to get dehydrated easily or suffer from urinary tract issues. However, it is perishable and should be fed to your cat as soon as you open it.

Cats can also be put on a combination of wet and dry food depending on their preferences and your budget.

A KITTEN IS IN THE ANIMAL WORLD WHAT A ROSEBUD IS IN THE GARDEN.
