The government’s vision to revolutionize India into a digitally empowered society thus creating an opportunity for every citizen to harness the benefits that align with it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions to broaden the dimensions of electronic services, products, devices and job opportunities. Under the pillar digital India, e-governance was launched in the year 2006 across health, education, passport, income tax, corporate affairs, etc. domains, which however failed to spectacle the desired results. Realizing the need to reinforce awareness about cybercrimes and building capacity for safety measures, the government is deploying best IT brains across several disciplines. The Government has been taking massive initiatives like opening 30 crore bank accounts to link numerous smartphones and bank accounts with respective Aadhaar cards. The later progression in digitization of the Aadhar link accounts has provided unique personal identity to over 118 core people.
Shri Ajay Prakash Sawhney, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology said, “With a billion plus mobile phone linked with Aadhaar connections and a billion plus bank accounts, we are definitely going to face billions and billions of threats, which are growing and becoming more and more sophisticated.” The only way to manifest the government’s vision of digitizing major aspects of the country is by primarily securing the country’s data across the cyberspace. Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) was the middle man across banks & other financial institutions and citizens that leverages the expertise of IT industry in cybersecurity. Cyber Surakshit Bharat is the first public-private partnership to keep data safe and protected. It has delivered a hand towards an effort to equip people, give them the tools, organizational strength to perform their goals better. It is also aimed at conducting training programs for CISOs and other frontline IT officials to enable them to manage and mitigate cyber threats.
In the light of recent attacks, Cyber Surakshit Bharat is anticipated to build strong cybersecurity network in alignment with our Prime Minister’s vision for ‘Digital India’.
